On Thursday, September 4, 2025, Seeds of Hope celebrated a milestone moment with the grand opening of Seeds of Change and the Marvetta and Anthony Grimes Family Center at our Indianapolis campus. This new facility, built in partnership with Volunteers of America Ohio and Indiana, gives women in recovery and their children a safe place to live, heal, and rebuild their lives.
The center offers two- and three-bedroom apartments for women in recovery, transitional housing for graduates, a free medical and dental clinic, vision and hearing care, and daycare and preschool services through St. Mary’s Early Childhood Center. These resources remove barriers that too often prevent families from staying together during recovery.
This project carries Marvetta Grimes’ name for a reason. She graduated from Seeds of Hope in 2000 and went on to serve as our Executive Director. Marvetta lost custody of her children during her addiction, and her son Anthony died in foster care from neglect.
That loss drove her to fight for a future where mothers could recover without being separated from their children. Before her passing, she dreamed of creating a family recovery center. Today, that dream stands in brick and mortar.
The Marvetta and Anthony Grimes Family Center is more than housing. It’s a step toward ensuring women won’t have to choose between their healing and their children. It’s a place of safety, dignity, and hope.
