Growing Health, Growing Hope: August 3–7
Welcome to Growing Health, Growing Hope, a new weekly update from Seeds of Change Free Clinic!
There’s always something happening at Seeds of Change Free Clinic, and every week brings new faces, familiar friends, and more opportunities to care for our community.
Each Friday, we’ll take a few minutes to share what’s been happening inside the clinic: the people we’ve had the opportunity to serve, updates from our team, and some of the ways our community continues to make this work possible.
A Busy Week of Care
Last week, our medical clinic cared for 15 patients, including six people who were visiting Seeds of Change Free Clinic for the first time.
Wednesday was an especially busy day. Our team saw nine patients in one day, a new record for the clinic!
We also had the joy of seeing four community members pick up their new glasses. It may seem like a small moment, but being able to see more clearly can make a meaningful difference in someone’s everyday life.
Our onsite pharmacy also provided medication to three patients, helping make sure the care they received at the clinic could continue after they walked out our doors.
Smiles Worth Celebrating
Our dental clinic was open for adult patients on Wednesday and pediatric patients on Thursday. During those two clinic sessions, our dental team cared for three adults and one child.
Dental care at Seeds of Change Free Clinic is provided at no cost to the women and children we serve, and we’re grateful for the providers and volunteers who help make this care available.
Welcome to the Team, Ame!
We’re also excited to welcome Ame Rhea to Seeds of Change Free Clinic!
Ame is joining us as our new Dental Assistant and will support Dr. Kaminski and Dr. Vazquez in the dental clinic. As an Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA), Ame brings valuable experience to the team, and we’re looking forward to all she will contribute to the care of our patients.
Welcome, Ame. We’re glad you’re here!
Looking Ahead with athenaGives
There was exciting progress happening behind the scenes this week, too.
Our team met with a representative from athenaGives, the corporate social responsibility program of athenahealth. Through this program, athenahealth donates access to its cloud-based electronic health record system, athenaClinicals®, to a limited number of qualifying free and charitable clinics.
We’re making plans to migrate to Athena this fall, and we’re excited about what this change can mean for the way our team serves patients and manages care.
There will be more to share as we get closer!
