Thomas O’Connor
Board President
Thomas is a family physician with over 40 years of experience in Greenfield, Indiana, and at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was a founding member of American Health Network (now part of Optum) and has held leadership roles, including past president of the Hancock County Medical Society.
A dedicated educator, he has mentored medical students and healthcare professionals. Outside of work, he enjoys time with his wife, Patty, their three daughters, and ten grandchildren. He’s excited to contribute to the Seeds of Change Free Clinic and continue serving his community.
Chris O’Connor
Board Secretary
Chris O’Connor graduated from Indiana University in 1983 with a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing. She worked in neurosurgery at Methodist Hospital from 1983 to 1986 before returning to family practice nursing in 2000 at American Health Network, where she worked for 12 years before retiring.
Chris has been married to Sean O’Connor for 43 years. They have four grown children and nine grandchildren. Chris is excited and humbled to serve the women, children, and families at Seeds of Change Free Clinic.
Jason Schnellenberger
Treasurer
Jason Schnellenberger is a graduate of the Indiana University Kelley School of Business and Maurer School of Law. He has been an attorney and developer within the affordable housing industry for over a decade. He previously served as the board president of the Indiana Youth Services Association and currently serves as the treasurer of Seeds of Change Free Clinic. He spends his free time with his wife and three kids.
Mike Smith
Board Member
Mike Smith is a retired healthcare executive who served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Anthem, Inc., now known as Elevance Healthcare, until his retirement in 2005. Since then, Mike has been an advisor and director for several healthcare businesses, including Envision Healthcare Holdings (emergency medicine), Agilon Healthcare (primary care), Carestream Health (diagnostic imaging), and Drive Medical (durable medical equipment and oxygen concentrators). He has also contributed to healthcare philanthropy through his service on the Eskenazi Health Foundation and Riley Children’s Foundation boards.
Mike and his wife Sue, along with their children and families, live in Indianapolis, Indiana. Their philanthropic efforts focus on poverty alleviation, as well as ensuring access to quality education and healthcare for all.
Julie Schnieders
Board Member
Julie Schnieders, MSN, CNP, is a highly experienced women’s health nurse practitioner with over 46 years of nursing expertise. She currently serves as the Vice President of Women’s and Pediatric Service Line at Ascension St. Vincent Indiana, where she continues to practice as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. Throughout her career, Julie has been committed to providing care for women, children, and families. In addition to her clinical work, she is an active member of the National Board of Ascension, where she contributes to quality improvement initiatives for mothers and infants.
Brooke Schaefer
Board Member
Brooke Schaefer is a nurse practitioner and Senior Vice President of Integrated Care at Volunteers of America, Ohio & Indiana. She is certified in addiction medicine with an MBA. She is dedicated to improving patient outcomes and advancing integrated care services.
Cheryl Rumer
Board Member
Cheryl has been a registered nurse for over 40 years with a broad range of experience. She worked thirteen years at Methodist Hospital in psychiatric, surgical and emergency nursing and helped to launch the LifeLine program as the first Chief Flight Nurse. She spent ten years as Medical Administrator at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway followed by twenty years in endocrine and neuroscience research at Eli Lilly and Company.
She has been married to Curt for 42 years and has five children and eleven grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with her family most. She is humbled and honored to contribute to the Seeds of Change Free Clinic and the community it serves.
Kevin Moore
Board Member
Kevin Moore has worked many years supporting the needs of those who are incarcerated and persons seeking help in the community. He worked for the State of Indiana for 34 years and recently retired from Volunteers of America Ohio and Indiana where he served as the Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer.
Barb Weimer
Board Member
Barb Weimer has been on the Board for a year. She is a proud mother of three children and new grandmother to little Sophie who she loves to spend time with. She has worked at Ascension St. Vincent in Surgery for 30 plus years. She is the Business Manager for Surgery and works with all of the surgical staff. She is a life long member of Christ the King Parish.
